Abstract. The rapid growth of the world's population and continuous processes of urbanization lead to an increase in the consumption of fresh water. Combined with climate change and constant pollution of drinking water sources, this problem is taking on a global scale. Today, water is a strategic resource that is needed for development, and sometimes even for the survival of entire countries. According to the estimates of the American Population Institute (Population Institute), the demand for fresh water exceeds the supply by 17%. Therefore, in modern world history, water resources are often a trigger in military conflicts.
